My name is Mateusz Dobrowolski, I am almost 29. On 9th March 2013, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was removed on the 13th of March during a surgery.

Unfortunately, it turned out that this is the worst possible tumor, glioblastoma multiforme. After the surgery, the only possibility of treating this tumor in Poland was with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The treatment was quite exhaustive for my body but fortunately it did not disturb me in normal functioning. After the tumor removal surgery, I did not have any physiological losses. I was at peace for the next 2.5 years and was trying not to think about the tumor and to continue to live my life.

"It is difficult to put into words how the doctors treated me throughout the treatment; it was so wonderful I can hardly believe it. If I had to rate the team of doctors and nurses, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give them an 11 or even a 12.”

M.D.: Unfortunately, it turned out that I had a relapse of the disease. And what then? What to do? First of all, ask neurologists, oncologists. But the options were very scarce, only a surgery, then chemo- and radiotherapy again, which did not make me happy. So together with my parents, whole family and friends, we began to look for an alternative. This way on the internet I came across a method of treating glioblastoma using NanoTherm therapy. It has been exactly 1.5 years since the end of this treatment and I must admit that I have been feeling much better than I did after the first treatment I had in Poland.

My whole family and friends helped me. I must admit that from the very beginning I set tasks for myself. I decided that my attitude would be that I was going to get out of this, but on my own, that surely, I will get out of this because I must, there is no other option. I am trying to make use of my life as much as it is possible and live it to the fullest.

Yes, I can go back to work.

It is not so easy because, after all, I had a quite long break. But I have my fingers crossed- it would be my dream to play again.

As for treatment or medications, at this moment I do not take anything.

Honestly, I couldn't wait for the appointment to come. I wanted to see with my own eyes that nothing was in my head that that wasn't supposed to be there.

I will begin with the therapy itself. In my case there were a few headaches, but I think that goes without saying, my head was operated on for the second time and [the NanoTherm particles] were heated [in the NanoActivator]. It is a normal side effect, and obviously worth it to get the result, so I wasn't afraid. As for now, I am not feeling any side effects of NanoTherm treatment any more.

Honestly, I don't think about them at all, they do not disturb me. I do not beep on any gates [laughing]. The metal detector does not respond either so it does not disturb me in my everyday life at all.

It is difficult to put into words how the doctors treated me throughout the treatment; it was so wonderful I can hardly believe it. If I had to rate the team of doctors and nurses, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give them an 11 or even a 12.

I was obviously nervous before I came for treatment 1.5 years ago. This is about life. My own life. When I came for my first medical evaluation visit, I was informed of what it would look like. I got confirmation from each of the doctors that they could be sure I was in the best hands. As to how the surgery proceeded, from the moment I came for treatment, every little step felt incredibly well planned. This reassured me in my belief that I was in good hands

From my side, everything was quite fast and effective. On the MagForce website, the complete therapy is described step by step, including a video [available under the link www.magforce.com] and a phone number where you can call and inquire about each detail. The people who are responsible for this information present it in a clear and reliable way.

The way it works is that the doctors who perform the treatment using the NanoTherm method need all information about the history of the disease. I had to share all the medical data that I have had before the treatment with NanoTherm therapy. It then has to be translated into the German or English language, and images of individual MRI results sent by email or regular mail.

Fortunately, not. I do not speak German. I may know a few words, but the doctors who were and still are taking care of me are highly educated and can speak perfect English, Polish and other languages. With respect to this, there were completely no problems.

If I met somebody who was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I would just recommend him/her to immediately do this therapy because it worked for me.

This is not an easy question. I would like to say that you can do it, that it really can be overcome. You just need to want it. I believe that more than 80 % of the capacity to cure the tumor comes from the patient’s belief. Everything depends on your attitude. There are many struggles that you have to deal with and it is not always going to be easy. Certainly, there will be difficult moments and really bad ones, but you need to convince yourself, even though it is difficult to believe it, that you will be healed and then the brain begins to think for itself that this will happen. Because then it becomes much more likely to happen!

More than 4.5 years after the first diagnosis and 1 month after his follow-up in Berlin, Mateusz is doing very well. We are happy to hear that he is forging new plans for the future - he can work again, which his employer has already confirmed. At the moment he is planning his vacation and wants to enjoy the summer.
